The Big Read

The Big Read – Scioto County: Eleven community organizations in Appalachian southern Ohio have created a county-wide “page to stage” project to collectively and cohesively promote Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, and the stage play of the same title from February 1 through April 30, 2009. The project includes live performances, book discussions for all ages, residencies, and classroom participation in Scioto County schools, including the regional Juvenile Detention Center, The Center for Alternative Progressive Education. Projects will also take place at the Scioto Literacy Council, public and university libraries, the Southern Ohio Museum, and Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.
