Mark O’Connor, American String Celebration

The terms “virtuosity” and “versatility” seem almost contradictory in nature, but Mark O’Connor is both “versatile” and a “virtuoso”, one huge package of extraordinary talent.

A prodigiously gifted interpreter of the musical traditions of the Southeast, O’Connor first came to prominence playing the fiercest hoedowns and hornpipes with deceptive ease. Over the years, he has come to work with a roster of musicians whose breadth of talent boggles the mind.

Mark O’Connor has gathered some of this country’s most talented and lauded young players for a joyous concert featuring classical, jazz, mountain, Celtic, old-time and Texas-style fiddling. Together these musicians bring a distinctly American history to life through music. This program will have you on your feet, cheering and applauding!
